The City of Palos Heights has set aside a special place to preserve open space for current residents and future generations. Lake Katherine Nature Center and Botanic Gardens offers many ways to get active and celebrate nature right outside your door.

There’s so much to do outside at Lake Katherine. Hike a scenic trail. Examine different plants and flowers in the gardens, woodlands, and prairie. Keep your eyes and your ears open for look for wildlife. Listen for sounds of animals. Watch birds fly. Study the insects and other amazing things. Sit and listen to the soothing sound of the waterfall or stare out across the lake.

Come inside and explore the Frank Passerelli Nature Center and discover more about nature. Visit and get up close to the live animals in our lower level Wildlife Center.
