Stargazing
Saturday August 6, 8.30pm
Join astronomer Joe Mayer to check out the moon, planets and stars. Free event for all ages and no registration needed. Meet near the entrance bridge. The event will be cancelled in the case of cloudy skies, rain or snow. View more details here.

Picnic at the Lake
Saturday, August 13
Lake Katherine is 25 years old! Join us for our fundraiser as we mark this special occasion with food, live music, an auction and raffles! Tickets are $40 per person and can be purchased at the Nature Center, City Hall or Mona Lisa Boutique. Proceeds from Picnic at the Lake will fund the continuing development of the Festival Grounds into an open-air community gathering space. The Festival Grounds will be used to expand Lake Katherine’s nature programming, and host cultural events and festivals.

Monarch Festival
Sunday, September 18, 11:30am-4pm
A celebration of the Monarch migration down to Mexico plus all things harvest. Join us for a family-filled day of activities including our butterfly tent, children's crafts and hayrides. They'll also be a crafts fair, food vendors and canoe rentals.

Fall Fishing Classic
Saturday, October 8, 7am-noon
Fish the entire shore for muskie, catfish, walleye and bass during our catch and release fundraiser. $100 a ticket for fishing, food and refreshments. Check back for more details.

Fall Hayride and Campfire
Friday, October 21, 7pm-9:30pm
October is pumpkin time! Join Lake Katherine for a fall hayride followed by pumpkin painting, treats and songs around the campfire. Registration and payment to be made in person or by mail no later than the Monday before the event. We do not accept telephone registration.

Scrapbooking Weekend
November 4-6
Feeling creative? Then why not join us for our scrapbooking weekend. We welcome everyone from skilled scrapbookers to complete beginners. $50 for three days.

Winter Holiday Hayride
Friday, December 9, 7pm-9:30pm
Our annual holiday hayrides will feature the food, fun and traditions from the pioneers of North America. We'll ride on our decorated hay wagon through the streets of Palos Heights singing Christmas carols then return to the Nature Center to enjoy food, crafts and other activities. Registration and payment to be made in person or by mail no later than the Monday before hayride.
