Nature & Arts Festival
Saturday, April 28, 11am to 3pm
Lake Katherine & Palos Heights Public Library presents a festival celebrating nature and arts. Includes guest speakers and hands-on creative activities.

Chicago River Day

Saturday, May 12, 9am to noon
Join the Friends of the Chicago River in a clean-up day at Lake Katherine. Volunteers will help remove invasive species and pick up trash around the park.

Native Plant Sale
Saturday, May 12, 10am to 2pm
Join us for a Native Plant Sale fundraiser. We will have a variety of native wildflowers and grasses for sale.

Stargazing
Saturday, May 19, 7:30pm, free program for all ages!
Free family astronomy nights featuring guest astronomer, Joseph Mayer, of the Chicago Astronomical Society. Outdoor viewing with telescopes will take place in our Anniversary Garden area.

Break for the Lake
Sunday, May 20, 8am to 11am, $25, age 14 and under $15
Get the endorphins pumping with our annual 5K trail race
around Lake Katherine.

Family Fishing Day
Saturday, June 2, 8am to 3pm, $25 full day, $15 half day
A day of fishing and fun for the whole family at Lake Katherine.
Prizes for the biggest catches.

Brews & Bullfrogs with Open Outcry

Wednesday, June 13, 6pm - 9pm. Cost: $5
Lake Katherine and Open Outcry Brewing Company have teamed up for an evening of fresh brews on the Clubhouse lawn. Pub games and nature walks are included in the entrance. Drinks are an additional charge.

July 3rd Bash
Tuesday, July 3rd 7pm-10pm
Join us for the official Palos Heights' Independence Day celebrations. The firework display begins at dusk and there is free entry for all. Optional tickets available for $25 per person to reserve a spot on the Clubhouse balcony for the best view in the park. Includes drinks and light snacks.

Wine and Nature with Cooper’s Hawk Winery
Thursday, July 26, 6pm - 9pm. Cost: $30
Join us for our summer wine and nature event!  Cooper's Hawk Winery will be onsite for an evening of wine tasting and music. A Lake Katherine naturalist will also host a brief presentation on the different natural sounds you may here around the lake at this time of year.

Sunset Sonata with the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra
Wednesday, August 15, 6.30pm - 8pm. (Music starts at 7pm) Cost: $40.
Enjoy a night of beautiful music on the Clubhouse lawn from a string quartet courtesy of the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra. Every ticket comes with two complimentary cocktails garnished with herbs from our very own herb garden.

25th annual Monarch Butterfly Festival
Sunday, September 16th 11am-4:30pm
Enjoy the unique and magical experience of walking through our butterfly tent!  We will also have face-painting, live animals, an arts & crafts fair, children's crafts, story time, scarecrow making, food & drink vendors and an education tent. Tickets are $6 per person and free entry for children two and under.

Fall Fishing Classic
Saturday, October 13th 7am-12pm
Fish the entire shore at Lake Katherine during this one day catch and release fundraiser. A donation of $100 per competitor includes lunch at noon and there are prizes for the biggest catches of the day.

Fall Hayride & Campfire
Friday, October 26th 7pm-9:30pm, $10 per person.
Lake Katherine's annual Fall Hayride and Campfire is back. The hayride will be followed by pumpkin painting, treats and songs around the campfire. Registration and payment to be made in person or by mail no later than the Monday before the event.

Scrapbooking Weekend
Get creative, share tips and make a special scrapbook during this fun craft weekend.
Dates:
Friday November 2nd: 5pm - midnight
Saturday November 3rd: 10am - midnight
Sunday November 4th: noon - 4pm
Cost: All three days - $50, Friday only - $14, Saturday only - $30, Sunday only - $10
Includes: Snacks and beverages all weekend, dinner on Saturday and lunch on Sunday. Bring your own sack lunch for Saturday. Preregistration required at the Nature Center.

Holiday Hayride
Friday, December 14th, 6.30pm - 8pm, 7.30pm - 9pm, $10 per person.
Join us for one of two time slots as we ride on a decorated hay wagon around the streets of Palos Heights singing Christmas carols. Upon return to the nature center we will enjoy food, fun and traditions.
